We have all had losses. We may not have considered our losses as traumatic, and they are. If our losses are sudden or expected it does not make either less painful than the other. Who or what have you lost? An animal, father, mother, innocence, husband, wife, child, time, trust? Grief is a powerful experience that comes from deep sadness. Grief is one of the most common emotional experiences that we tend to want to push away by using unhealthy coping mechanisms (such as alcohol, food, gambling, etc.). Grief will come up in moments when we least expect it when we have not learned to affirm and feel our grief. Today, I encourage you to experience your grief. You will validate yourself and your emotional connection to what you have lost. You deserve it.
